1 This adventure is well worth `1.95 and I have no hesitation in recommending it. It's a pity about the vocabulary though, which has cost this game a star.
1 This adventure ends, if you're good enough, in the castle's cellars. Even if you get this far you could find it's a shocking experience.
1 These commands are essential at times as you will require help with some problems. But there are times when you should be alone as I found to my cost when I plunged down a ravine.
1 There's a lot to be done whileon board the ship if you want tosurvive once you've jumped over-board. If you like to see thingsship shape you'll go far. A generous nature will come in handy and don't have any scruples about forgery.
1 There are plenty of puzzles inthis game to keep you occupied for a while - All is not as it seems to be in the enchanted garden, and you'll need green fingers to reach the elve's cave.
1 The winner, S Cranston of IPSWICH won WINTER WONDERLAND.

1 " The format of this game is rather like that of LORDS OF MIDNIGHT, in that as you turn, you are shown a different view of what is in front and to either side of you."
1 " The condors are the ""baddies"" of the game, so you may be tempted to ignore his command toget the snake vine to cure him, and his behaviour after you helphim may make you wish you hadn'tbothered, but do it anyway!"
1 " The adventure begins in a forest and after only one move Iwas dead! Our old friend Sudden Death had appeared in the form of a dagger thrown from a nearbyfort."
1 " The Red Lion is a ruby which was found by dwarfs mining in the Black Mountain. It is their greatest treasure and it has strange mystical powers."
1 " Remember the cryptic sentencesspoken by Quetzal? It's not too easy - the smake vine is protec-ted by a snake, so first you must go east into the burnt forest to find a hungry eagle."
1 " Now SAVE the game, this will give you the most time to comp- lete the rest of it. You will have noticed that the sun is sinking on your screen, you onlyhave a limited time to play."
1 " Moving forward, you will be confronted by a dragon - LEAVE"
1 " Moans aside, this is a really nice adventure and if while playing it you can't find the right word then type
1 " LEAVE the tear at the broken altar to repair it, then the coyote will come with you."
1 " LEAVE BEHIND the eagle to remove the snake, then get the snake vine, which you leave withthe wounded condor. Do not leavethis area until you have the conch, a seed, a feather and thetablet."
1 " Just for fun, you can summon as many gods as you wish - you will have discovered their namesby walking through the statues in the temple - but SAVE the game first! One of the gods is very unfriendly!"
1 " In the village, a copper pot, a bone key and a stone knife must be found, but as the pot isheavy, a llama would be useful as a beast of burden. The llama won't come with you unless you feed it with three grains of maize. You will also find a jadestatue but it is not essential for the completion of the game."
1 " In the centre of Condor City,"
1 " In the burnt forest, you will find various objects, amongst which are a thorn (poisonous),"
1 " In the Condor Mountain area, find a herb to give to the sloth, who will then carry you across a dodgy bridge."
1 " If you haven't guessed it by now, you must find the ruby and return it to the dwarfs."
   1 " I'm glad I did because this is"
1 " I must confess that my sudden demise almost put me off this game but I persevered, if only because the editor's wrath is ten times worse than facing daggers flying through the air!"
1 " However, there is a log, whichfloats down the river and jams into the bridge, making it safe to cross."
1 " Each area is contained in a 10x10 grid. I found it best to"
1 " Back in the burnt forest, where you may need to USE the shield to protect you from the lightning, find an altar. LEAVE the seed and the feather then USE the conch to please the goddess."
1 " Back in Aztec City, the potionwill get rid of the condor guard and you can free the villagers. You will then be tolda spell which opens a tunnel in the north wall of the city."
1 " An interesting feature of thisadventure is that you can interact with these characters albeit in a limited way. You canuse commands such as
1 which you get from a bottle. A fair enoughcommand you might think, but there is no indication from the
1 and that problem, at least, should be solved."

1 Unfortunately my enjoyment wasmarred by a tight vocabulary. Toblock a hole in a helmet you have to
1 The ubiquitous maze is here inthe form of a dense forest but it shouldn't be too difficult tonegotiate.
1 Shipwreck is a thoroughly enjoyable game, jam packed with problems but its one defect is its vocabulary. All too often precise words have to be used toperform a particular action as any similar words give you the message
1 I accept that it's difficult, if not impossible to please everybody with a game's vocabul-ary but if Tartan Software couldproduce a less restrictive vocabulary there games, which are good, would be even better.
1 Getting into the castle isn't too difficult but watch out for guards, TV cameras and photo electric beams.
1 Enter Charlie Jones - you - a Special Government Agent who hasarrived at the castle with only one bullet in his gun. You couldsay that he's a proper Charlie!
1 All in all Castle Eerie is a good adventure but it suffers from the same problems as Ship- wreck.
